HARDESTY ENTERPRISES:  1999-present, Lincoln, California.  Founded consulting business to serve clients with interim management, business planning, and medical device evaluations..

VARIAN ASSOCIATES: 1976-1999, Palo Alto, California.  23 years of increasing responsibility until early retirement in January 1999.   These included the most difficult assignments available.

General Manager, Brachytherapy Business:  P & L responsibility for the Brachytherapy Division of Varian Medical Systems.  Responsible for the business from start up through ten million dollars in annual sales.  The division is now profitable, and a leader in the field.  Managed development activities in Palo Alto, California; Crawley, UK; and Baden, Switzerland.  Manufacturing was done in Crawley, UK. 

Manager, Business Development:  Responsible for evaluation and negotiation of potential mergers and acquisitions.  Managed relationship with major suppliers and distributors including NEC in Japan, TEM in Crawley, UK prior to acquisition, and Fischer Imaging in Denver, CO.

Product Manager:  Managed several new medical products through development and initial sales.

Manufacturing Manager:  Managed all manufacturing functions for Ultrasound Product Line until sale of line to Diasonics.

FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR:  1972-1975, Jakarta, Indonesia.  I was part of the management team that established the first integrated circuit manufacturing facility in Indonesia.  Duties included government liaison, site procurement, employee recruitment and facility management.

ELECTRONIC MEMORIES AND MAGNETICS:  1971-1972, Hawthorne, California and Hong Kong.  Director of Asian Quality Assurance for core memory devices.

RAYTHEON MISSILE SYSTEMS and MOTOROLA GOVERNMENT ELECTRONICS CENTER:  1965-1971.  Quality Engineering functions.
